Jimmy Ray Parks, 51, of Lexington, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Newville officiating. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Parks was born March 6, 1950, in Purcell, the youngest of four children of James S. Parks and Ida Mae Steckler. He grew up in the Lexington, Noble and Norman areas, graduating from Norman High School.
Mr. Parks was drafted by the Army and began serving on Sept. 26, 1969. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge on April 30, 1971.
Mr. Parks was employed with American Cattle trailer as a welder until 1973, when he moved to Lexington to work as a civil service welder at Tinker Airforce Base. He retired from Tinker in April 1993.
He married Carla Parramore June 1, 1989, in Shawnee.
After retirement, Mr. Parks raised and hauled cattle until his health began to fail.
He enjoyed fishing, riding horses and spending time with his family.
Mr. Parks is survived by his wife, of the home; his parents, James S. Parks, of Norman, and Ida Mae Steckler, of Lexington; children, Linda Wilkerson, and her husband, Jason, of Washington, Tonya Parks, of Oklahoma City, Jamie Mize, and her husband, Matthew, of Norman, and Samantha Parks, of the home; stepchildren, Etola Forga and Bryon Forga, both of Moore; a brother, Floyd Parks, and his wife, Virginia, of Shawnee; sisters, Delores Schrieber, and her husband, David, of Oklahoma City, and Gayle Caskey, and her husband, Harold, of Lexington; grandchildren, Stacey,
